CAGBALETE

Beach trips don’t have to be far––if you’re living in Manila and in need of a fix of sand and sun, a quick weekend road trip is enough to get you sorted. There are plenty of resorts and accommodations to choose from; no defined backpacker and tour companies involved!

If you’re on a tight budget but wanting a more private and less-crowded island getaway, Cagbalete Island might just be the paradise you’re looking for. Situated in a small town of Mauban, east of Quezon province, lies this secluded island with creamy white sand and clear waters. It's known for its low tide phenomenon exposing ripples of sand from the shoreline.

I’ve made arrangements to stay at Villa Noe Beach Resort. They have cottages for rent––ours we had at P3,300/night good for 6-8 pax. Electricity is only available from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with use of generators. Cellular signals are reliable but data connection is weak.

You'd surely enjoy doing nothing in this place for days. Instead of spending so much on amenities and fancy drinks by the beach, you'll enjoy simple things like a splash in the ocean or star-gazing on chilly summer nights.
